Paula Bomfirm and Jamie Vick met a few years ago in Dubai. Today we want to remember this magical wedding day and share with you her fabulous wedding photo-shoot by Blue Eye Picture.
How did you and your spouse meet?
I’m originally form a city call Salvador in Brazil, but then I moved to the UK. I loved living in London and somehow I always thought on going back. However back then I got a Job offer to come to Dubai, so I moved here. Then one day I went out and our friend in common introduced us. From that moment on we have been together. We started going out and 3 years after Jamie proposed. By December 15th 2014 we were getting married here in Dubai.
When was the wedding held and where?
The wedding was held in December 2014 in Dubai. We did a small intimate wedding. Since we are both far from our countries it was difficult that our relatives could come all the way to Dubai in such short notice, so we just gathered our closest friends and got married in the Jebel Ali Church. After the ceremony we had a lovely reception in the One and Only hotel. And our after party was held on a Yacht. It was a small and intimate wedding but it was exactly how I pictured to be. Later on we will have a bigger wedding with all of our family members and friends in Brazil or Spain.
When was the wedding held and where? What is the biggest advice you can give any bride -to-be?
I think being a bride could be very stressful; there are so many little details and things to think about that it can get very overwhelming. So I think the most important thing is to follow your heart and enjoy every moment. For me, was also very important to be part of every decision making because at the end of the day this day will represent you as a bride, so the selection of the dress, the music and every detail should be linked to you and your story.
What about an advice for the Groom to be?
For the groom the most important thing is to remain patient and never to disagree. Under any circumstance, even if the details may seem insignificant for him, he should remain supportive and attentive.
What should every bride know when planning her wedding?
Our wedding was a last minute event, so I did the whole planning on my own. I didn’t hire a wedding planner. I just went into Pinterest and decided everything from the decoration to the styling. I wanted my wedding day to feel confortable and personal. So I think it depends on the kind of wedding each bride dreams of, but I would recommend to all of them to keep it authentic and be involved as much as possible in the process.
What was the theme or colour scheme you picked for your wedding??
I had the idea of a beach and nautical wedding style. So I picked white, silver and blue for the colour palette. I wore blue shoes as my something blue and even my jewellery had some blue on it. Also my makeup was done in blue shades to keep it in tone with the nautical beach idea.
Do you recommend specific suppliers you worked with?
For sure, Blue Eye Picture Studio, my wedding photos and my pre-wedding photos looked amazing. For the flowers I was very happy and confortable working with Oleander Flowers, they made the flower decoration for my wedding hairstyle and also proposed different flower designs and ideas.
Did you face any surprises?
Yes there was, I saw a really nice nautical wedding picture on Pinterest in which the bride and the groom plus all the bride-mates and the friends of the groom are picture together with a big nautical knot in the middle. I decided I wanted the same image and even though it was hard to find, Jamie got it for me. He went early in the morning to found it. It was difficult but finally he managed and got it for me, so of course I felt happy and grateful.
Who designed your dress?
Actually my mother found the dress in Brazil and bought it for me. She said the dress looked like some kind of fisherman net and that I would look like a mermaid in this dress and since I was having a nautical wedding style she convinced me right away. It was an amazing day; I really enjoyed every minute of it!
